Tuesday...

I got all set up for radiation, but I'll start it tomorrow at 8:30am. They do a simulation first which just sets up the treatment. My doc decided we didn't need to start today. In case we have confusion, with the last blog I was given 2 options, basically they are one in the same. 1 we do chemo then radiation, or radiation first with chemo the latter. The smaller we get the cancer before we start the radiation the better. However, this wasn't really an option to wait as my neurological functions are worsening rapidly. Although the radiation is riskier with more cancer there, we figured it may further down the road that I'll see the effects. We are hoping that first some of my functions start coming back soon. We are hoping for a lot of things, but that is the first thing. If I took chemo first, the risk of nerve damage would go way down, however, my neurological functions will take a lot longer to improve with the chemo. So that is the trade off. Please keep for us in in our corner. Take care JJ.

I'm praying for you and your family. Seems like every minute of the day I have a thought of you and this tough journey you are on. You will kick this - I know you will - you're JJ.

"Dear God, please make JJ well now. Give him strength to heal, destroy all adverse side effects of his treatments and remove the cancer from his body. Thank you God for all your wonderful blessings"!!!

Love you -

Kim

HOLY CRAP!

This better work finally!!!!!!!!!
This is some seriously scary stuff!

Once you beat this cancer out of your body we should have a HUGE party where everyone comes out to your mom's or dad's house and celebrates! Maybe we could get some RED DOG who knows.

I miss you like crazy j's and I can't stop thinking about you and worrying about you.

I'm going to be out there with the lady friend hopefully on the last weekend in january.

JJ,
I hope your treatment went well this morning. You have no idea how excited I am to see you on Friday!!! Dad said that you sounded good on the phone last night when you called so he had to call me right away to tell me!! I was really happy to hear that! As you already know, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I think about you all the time. I also agree with Tom about having a huge party for a celebration for you, but I'm not so sure about the Red Dog! :) I love you and can't wait to see you!

Love you Cous,
~Kels

Justin

Your courage and determination are precious gifts! You truly are magical.

Tonight, picture yourself floating on an endless ocean of light, relaxed and deeply peaceful. Imagine this to be the Limitless Source of Spirit. Feel yourself supported by this benevolent energy that permeates all things. Imagine that Spirit is always willing to support your well-being. THERE IS A MIRACLE ON ITS WAY.

You are dearly loved,

Aunt Joan

JJ,

POWERFUL THOUGHTS POSTED FOR YOU AND BY YOU TODAY.

I'D LIKE TO SHARE SOMETHING THAT CROSSED MY MIND ON THE DRIVE HOME FROM WORK LAST NIGHT. I'LL PARA-PHRASE FROM JIM VALVANO'S ESPY SPEECH: 'EACH DAY WE SHOULD LAUGH A LITTLE, WE SHOULD CRY A LITTLE AND EACH DAY WE SHOULD LOVE A LITTLE. THAT WOULD MAKE A PRETTY FULL DAY.' WELL, LET ME TELL THIS; I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING A LOT OF EACH. FROM WHAT I'M READING I'M NOT ALONE. AS SAD AS THE CURRENT SITUATION IS I FEED MYSELF SMILING A LOT WHEN I THINK ABOUT AND SHARE STORIES ABOUT YOU. I CAN SAY THE SAME FOR CRYING AND LOVING.

I'LL CLOSE TODAY WITH ANOTHER PHRASE FROM JIMMY V.: 'DON'T GIVE UP. DON'T EVER, EVER GIVE UP!'

LOVE,

RICK

Kuke da man! This is a comment I've made thousands of times, stretching back to the earliest memories I have of us being pals. I've also heard this phase belted out by numerous other people wherever I went with you. But prior to these last couple of years I often caught myself wondering..."is Kuke really da man?". Or am I using the term much to loosely..perhaps other men I know such as Garber or Corning or Foot were equally deserving to be dubbed "da man". While I always knew deep down you were definately da man...and my other friends just couldn't hold a candle to you (especially Garber), I just recently realized how much you really deserve to be singled out for this elite distinction.

I haven't seen you or spoken to you as much as I'd like to but whenever I do I can't help but be inspired by how positive and uplifting your attitude is. When you came down to visit me last March I couldn't believe how you really hadn't changed..despite all that was going on you still made everyone laugh and I think you even farted on queue once to seal a hiliarious moment. My girlfriend Amanda, who had never met or talked to you prior to Aug. 1st 2005, thought the world of you and couldn't get over what a joy you are to be around. So once again I just want to say "Kuke da Man!

JJ,
I agree with P. Meyer. His often used phrase of "Kuke da Man" has never proved more true than in the battle you are giving cancer. Although your doctors gave you a 10% chance the day we had our draft last week, you never once gave a hint of being down. I am amazed by the courage you muster to fight. I want you to know that I am wishing you well everyday.

I love you buddy!

JJ,
As we go to bed tonight waiting for another update on how the day’s radiation went for you, know you have been in our prayers. I found out today I will be sent to Iraq again in May, I just wanted you to know you are my source for strength, attitude and faith, all my respect and love. Eric

JJ, Keep on fighting the fight. You are motivation for all of us to get out of bed everyday because we don't have half the worries you do. You have been an idol for my life the moment I met you. I can only hope to have the outlook and drive for happiness that you do. There is not a doubt in my mind that god has walked along side of you from the day you were born.

ON a lighter note I have sucked! SUCKED! AT coming to see you, and you might have lived on 140 long enough to join, Carrie Worm, Brittney, and Myself in the 140 club. Good Club. I have Tuesday off so if you are feeling well I would like to stop by.
